Who we are
Monarch Airlines Limited (‘Monarch’) was established over 40 years ago and is one of the UK’s major providers of low-fares scheduled flights from bases at London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham airports. Monarch is also a key supplier of airliners to the also operates charter aircraft for the tour operating industry, as well as being part of an international group of travel companies. It’s UK sister companies include Monarch Holidays (a trading name of Cosmos Holidays Plc), Monarch Hotels (a trading name of Somewheretostay Limited), Avro Plc, Archers Tours Limited (also known as ‘Archers Direct’) and Cosmos Coach Tours Limited (also known as ‘Cosmos Tourama’) (collectively known as the ‘Sister Companies’). As well as being one of the most established names in the travel industry, Monarch remains resolutely family owned.
This website is owned, managed and operated by Monarch Airlines Limited. Where the terms “we”, “us” or “our” are used in this privacy policy this means Monarch and where the terms “you” or “your” are used this means you and the members of your booking party.
Your data
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and as amended from time to time, any information you provide will be safeguarded and controlled by Monarch, as Data Controller. In order to process your booking, we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details may include, where applicable, the names and addresses of party members, contact details such as telephone numbers and email addresses, credit/debit card or other payment details and in some instances information relating to disability or medical condition which may affect your chosen travel arrangements. If any other personal details are required, we will of course tell you.
Except where expressly permitted by the Data Protection Act, we will only deal with the personal details you give us as set out below unless you agree otherwise. We will not pass your data to third parties unless inexcept for the examples set out below in relation to the administration of your booking, or with your prior consent in relation to marketing communications.
Subject to the exceptions set out in this Privacy Policy, we promise to keep all personal details you give us in connection with your booking confidential. We have appropriate security measures in place to protect this information as, detailed below.
How we use your data in connection with your booking
We do not store personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), however, Wwe may need to pass on some or all of the personal details you provide us with to certain governmental agencies and third parties in order to eaffect your travel arrangements, or deal with and/or investigate any emergency incident, or in the interests of security and/or because we are required to do so by law. Such third parties may include, but are not limited to, any carrier that we may use in substitution for Monarch Airlines (in accordance with our conditions of carriage), a handling agent, credit/debit card company, bank, accommodation supplier (for example in the event of a delay), other supplier and/or third party such as, for example, a car hire company, airport parking company or currency exchange company that we may deal with from time to time on your behalf. Such third parties may be situated outside the European Union EEA.
We may need to pass your personal details to certain governmental agencies in the interests of security and/or because we are required to do so by law. For example, the US and Spanish governments now both require by law that every airline discloses flight and reservation data concerning all passengers travelling to or /from either of these countries.
Where you give us details relating to your physical or mental health we will ask you to give us your written consent to our holding, using and passing on such information.
We may also use your details to contact you regarding the administration of your booking, for example in the event of a change to your flight time or to advise you when online check-in is available.
Please note the time period for which we keep information varies according to what the information is used for. In some cases, there are legal requirements to keep data for a minimum period. Unless there is a specific legal requirement for us to keep the information, we will retain it for no longer than is necessary.
How we use your data to inform you of relevant products and services
If we wish to may use any of your personal details to contact you by email with details of our promotions and products which we think you might be interested in, we will only do this with your prior consent., in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.
You can opt-in for such marketing communications from Monarch Airlines Limited during the booking process or when you create an account in the ‘my account’ area of our website. You can also choose to give your consent for us to pass your contact details to our UK Sister Companies (as detailed above), so that they may also contact you with details of products and services.
We will not pass your details to other third parties for the purpose of marketing unless you give your prior consent.
Please note: although, as a group, we and our Sister Companies are in the business of selling flights, holidays and other travel related products and services, we are also mindful of your privacy. Wherever possible we will endeavour to keep our communications interesting and relevant to you and not to bombard you with emails or literature!

At any time, you can tell us that you do not want us to use your details for the purposes of marketing, by opting-out of future communications.
